Stand letztens im Bücherladen und hatte Effektiv C++ von Scott Meyers in der Hand und hab etwas drin rum geblättert. Ähnelt ja ziemlich GOTW.
Frage: Lohnt sich der Kauf, oder steht das alles auch auf der Guru of the Week Seite?

Also das Exceptional C++ (by Herb Sutter) (incl Folgende Bände) GOTW ähneln ist verständlich. Aber Effective C++ 😕

Frage: Lohnt sich der Kauf, oder steht das alles auch auf der Guru of the Week Seite?

Alles steht nicht auf GOTW. Die Items in Sutters Büchern sind teilweise ausführlicher, enthalten teilweise neue Aspekte, einiges wurde an einigen Stellen korrigiert. Alles in Allem sind sie deutlich "polierter" als im Web.

Fakt ist sicher, dass der Inhalt der Bücher sehr wertvoll ist. Man kann ihn sich mit etwas Mühe aber auch aus dem Internet zusammensuchen (GOTW, Diskussionen zu den GOTWs in comp.lang.c++.moderated, ...). Ob sich die Anschaffung lohnt hängt somit vom persönlichen Geschmack und Geldbeutel ab. Wer sich wirklich für C++ interessiert, Bücher mag und nicht jeden Pfennig zweimal umdrehen muss, kann mit Sutters Werken nichts falsch machen. Ich für meinen Teil zumindest habe alle vier Bücher von ihm und hab das bisher noch nicht eine Sekunde lang bereut - im Gegenteil.

Ich kenne nur Exceptional- und More Exceptionell C++. Was sind die anderen 2? Beim amazon habe ich jedenfalls nur die beiden gefunden....
