Volatile teilt dem Compiler mit, daß außerhalb des Programmes auf eine mit volatile deklarierte Variable zugegriffen wird und die beispielsweise Optimierungen disabled werden etc. . Somit wird jedesmal die Variable aus dem Speicher ausgelesen etc. . Für Treiberentwicklung kann so etwas erforderlich sein.
