  • Ja, wenn Du noch ein XFree86 hast, dann kann das auch XF86Config heißen, wie bereits gepostet wurde.



  • Kannst du deinen xserver denn ohne KDE starten?

    Ich hab das gleiche Problem... Enlightenment(starte16) und KDE(startkde) gehen nicht aber xfce4(startxfce4) geht.

    KDE hab ich zum laufen gekriegt, indem ich startx eingegeben hab und dann im xterm(wusste gar nicht, dass man automatisch n xterm kriegt 😮 hab's wohl immer mit Xorg statt startx getestet.) startkde eingegeben hab... hatte dann aber den Standard Windowmanager. 😃

    Werd nachher mal "export DISPLAY=:0.0" testen.

    BTW ich hab Arch Linux und Xorg.



  • Diese Befehle Xorgconfig, XF86Config startxfce4 und Xorg sind bei mir nicht vorhanden. Hilft es, dass ich sie neu instaliere?

  • Probier mal SaX oder SaX2. Bei mir gibt es "xf86config". Geh mal als root in das Verzeichnis "/usr/bin/X11" und mach "ls" oder "ls X*" bzw. "ls x*".

    Guck mal ins Verzeichnis "/etc/X11" und poste den Inhalt der Dateien "XF86Config" und "xorg.conf" hier.

    Das Programm "xf86config" ist sehr krude, und erfordert, dass Du genau ueber Deinen Grafikkartenchipsatz sowie die Bildfrequenztoleranzen Deines Monitors bescheid weisst.

    Du kannst ja erstmal die Bildschirmaufloesung / den Treiber auf Standard VGA stellen, damit ueberhaupt X Windows kommt. Mit "startx" kannst Du dann X starten, da sollte nur ein leerer X Bildschirm mit vielleicht noch xterm kommen. Notfalls musst Du von einer anderen Konsole aus (kannst Du mit Ctrl-Alt-F2 z.B. machen), "export DISPLAY=:0.0" (geht natuerlich nur, wenn X gestartet wurde) und dann "xterm &" machen. Mit Ctrl-Alt-F7 kommst Du auf den X-Bildschirm zurueck, und dort im xterm gibst Du "SaX" oder "SaX2" ein, dann kommt der grafische Konfigurator, wenn alles klappt. 😉

  • Mit xf86cfg bekommt man diesen Fehler

    Xfree86 has fount a valid card configuration. Unfortunately the appropriate data has not been added to xf86PciInfo.h. Please forward ‘scanpci -v’ output to Xfree86 support team.

    Ich habe auch xf86config probiert. Nach ein Paar Eingaben von Parametern ist dieser Fehler zu sehen

  • Bist Du sicher, dass Du eine Riva hast?
    X kann sowas nämlich nicht finden, wie Du an der einzelnen EE-Zeile unschwer erkennen kannst.



  • Vielleicht liegt es daran, daß die Grafikkarte falsch ist. Ich glaube, meine Karte ist Winfast. Aber Linux erkennt Hardware automatisch, nicht wahr? Wenn das wahr wäre, was würdet ihr vorschlagen?

    Tja, dann liegt das garantiert daran.
    Wobei Winfast ja nur der Karten-Markenname ist, nicht der Chipsatz des Boards und somit ist das X völlig egal.
