Wie kann ich einen FTP Server starten ?

Hi, ich würde gerne auf meinem Suse System einen FTP Server laufen lassen - wie ?
ich habe mal vsftpd installiert, aber irgendwie klappt das nicht :((

Habe mal die init.d neugestartet (und das aktiviert)...
jetzt kann ich im lan darauf zugreifen allerdings nur als anonymus .. und in irgendwelche doofen verzeichnise.. wo finde ich die config ?
oder wo kann ich die user & ordner wechseln ??danke mfg MAritn

habe so eben eine configfile gefunden,
/etc/vsftpd.conf ... aber da stehen nicht die sachen drinen die ich brauche.Ich will einen Benutzer anlegen, mit Password, der auf ein bestimmtes Verzeichnis Lese und Schreibzugriff hat, also auch mkdir und chmod etc...
Wie ??

Ich will damit klar machen das es durchaus Sinn macht mal in die Doku reinzuschauen bevor man in ein Forum postet. Wer lesen kann ist stets im Vorteil etc., etc. Es gibt so viele gute Dokumentationen für Linux und Faulheit ist die schlechteste Entschuldigung die man haben könnte. Wenn man kein Englisch kann, (soll gelegentlich vorkommen) so hilft evtl ein:export LANG=de_DE man vsftpd
Etwas Allgemeinwissen über UnixSysteme und FTP:
- läuft auf einem UnixSystem ein FTP-Server so kann sich im Normalfall jeder Benutzer des Systems mit seinem Benutzernamen und seinem Passwort auf dem System anmelden und Dateien über FTP übertragen. Die Schreibrechte sind selbstverständlich die selben die der jeweilige Benutzer auf diesem System hat.- andererseits, wenn ein "erweiterter" FTP-Server installiert wird, wird in der Regel ein Benutzer ftp mit Heimatverzeichniss /home/ftp angelegt, welches gleichzeitig als ROOT-Verzeichniss des FTP-Servers gilt. Desweiteren sollten sich in diesem Ordner 2 Unterverzeichnisse "pub" und "incoming" befinden, wobei in dem Ordner "pub" alle Dateien abgelegt werden sollten welche sogenannten "Anonymous" Benutzern zum freien Download (login:anonymous,passwd:user@home) zur Verfügung stehen sollten, im Gegenzug steht incoming für alle (anonymen) Uploads zur verfügung.
Was die konfiguration der einzelnen ftpserver angeht:
